Mindfulness Based Interventions (MBIs)
Here at Phoenix Rising our main objective is to help empower you to take back control of your own mind. This is best achieved through the use of therapies which utilise mindfulness and fall under the miraculous umbrella of mindfulness based interventions. These include Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to name a few. In addition to the therapeutic element, mindfulness meditation training will also be utilised for general training of the mind, with regular take home exercises and practical skills to be honed. This is more than just simplistic talk therapy, this is you taming and taking back full control of your presently overactive mind.
Breath work & Relaxation
Most people don’t realise the profoundly powerful effects of breath work on stress levels and achieving a state of calm. Think of it as a biological hack of sorts, where certain breathing techniques can affectively signal our parasympathetic nervous system to calm the body down. These simple techniques can be easily learned and utilised at any time in which we begin to feel anxious, distress or in any way uneasy.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can work hand in hand with Mindfulness Based Interventions to help you better understand and recognise faulty or unhelpful patterns of thought. It can also help you do the same regarding learned patterns of unhelpful behaviour, which often lead to psychological problems. CBT can be effectively utilised to help teach you better ways of coping with these unhealthy patterns and problems, giving you additional problem-solving skills to defuse difficult situations, better understand the behaviours and motivation of yourself and others, and to efficiently recognise and address the distortions in your thinking that are causing you problems. This revaluation of thought and behaviour will help to further entrench you within the light of reality and the precious gift that is the present moment. CBT and MBIs work in tandem to produce mental mastery.
Dealing with Trauma
Trauma is extremely common and something that has impacted most, if not all of our lives. Here at Phoenix Rising we recognise the significance of trauma, and aim to address it with you via a variety of clinically tested and approved therapeutic modules focused acutely on the treatment of trauma. Some of these include; Cognitive processing therapy, Trauma-focused CBT, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Psychodynamic therapy, and when suitable, Prolonged exposure therapy and Narrative therapy. Integrating the latest Neuroscience
At Phoenix Rising we are thrilled to be able to integrate the latest research and findings from the ever expanding and enlightening field of Neuroscience! Thanks to neuroscience we now better understand the neurotransmitter and hormonal factors that are intercity involved in our mood regulation, cognitive function and overall chemical baselines. This deeper understanding can help us to better regulate our lifestyle factors to create an abundance of, and maximise, the use of these feel good chemicals. As well as helping us to understand why we may be feeling certain mood fluctuations or disorders, by better understanding the chemical balances and imbalances of our brain.
